Waterford Pond Flood Mitigation Project – Phase 2
Sat, Mar 20 · Time to be confirmed
Waterford Pond Flood Mitigation Project – Phase 2 The City of Twinsburg will soon begin the second phase of an important stormwater improvement project at Waterford Pond, located on Glen Eagles Golf Course west of Timothy Lane. While most Twinsburg residents will not be directly affected by the construction, residents traveling through the area may notice construction equipment, trucks and other activity beginning in early November. This work is part of the City’s ongoing effort to address flooding in the Timothy Lane and Glen Eagles area, including the significant flooding experienced following the August 8, 2024 storm. Previous drainage improvements have helped, but additional work is needed to improve the area's ability to manage heavy rainfall and reduce the risk of future flooding. Phase 2 focuses on Waterford Pond and is designed to restore the pond's stormwater storage capacity and improve the way water moves through the drainage system. The project will include: • Dewatering Waterford Pond. • Modifying structures within the pump intake house. • Modifying the pond's outlet structure. • Removing accumulated sediment from multiple areas of the pond. • Restoring the pond closer to its originally intended depth and volume. Together, these improvements will increase the pond's capacity, improve water quality and help provide a more effective long-term stormwater management system for the surrounding area. Construction is expected to begin the week of November 2 and continue through March 2027. Because much of the work is dependent on rainfall, snow and temperature, the schedule may change as weather conditions require. Although this project is concentrated in one area of Twinsburg, it represents a larger City priority: continuing to invest in infrastructure that better protects our neighborhoods and reduces the impact of increasingly significant storm events. The City's Engineering Department will provide construction inspection throughout the project. Questions may be directed to the Engineering Department at 330-963-6233. After-hours concerns may be reported through the Police Department's non-emergency dispatch line at 330-425-1234.
